Dear Friends,
I’m writing to share some exciting news. Thanks to your involvement and support, Monumental Scholars Fund (MSF) has made a substantial and enduring difference in the lives of thousands of Consortium of Catholic Academies (CCA) students, and their families, in some of the District’s most underserved areas.
It is my privilege to share with you that the CCA and MSF have now joined forces, with Archbishop Gregory and the rest of the MSF board of directors coming onto the CCA board. This new partnership will greatly enhance our ability to continue providing the tuition support, before and after school care, and supplies and equipment needed to meet the essential academic and social needs of the 812 students across our four CCA schools.
Sacred Heart, St. Anthony, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Thomas More provide an exceptional Catholic education to students, from the 3-and 4-year-olds in our pre-K classes to the 8th graders who are preparing for high school. CCA students have a 96% acceptance rate at their first-choice Catholic high schools, with consistent 100% high school matriculation rates.
Yet much remains to be accomplished. CCA students and their families have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. The challenges that many of our students face, for example, single parents who don’t have the luxury of working from home while their children attend school remotely, caregiving grandparents who have been stricken by COVID-19, loss of income and lack of access to health insurance, present us with an unprecedented need.
While these are challenging times for all, many of our young students, their families, and their underserved communities are struggling financially. We need your involvement and support now more than ever. We hope you will remain involved and continue to support our students. Your philanthropic support makes a powerful difference by setting our students on a path of academic excellence.
With gratitude,
Thomas Fitzgerald
